Dr. Alexander Ya Kaplan

 

Alexander Ya Kaplan received his M.S., Ph.D and D.Sci. degrees from the M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (Faculty of Biology) Russia. After spending ten years in the department of  Higher Nervous Activity as Senior Research Scientist, he joined the Department of Human Physiology where he became a leading Research Scientist and Professor in Psychophysiology and the Head of Human Brain research Group.

Scientific Interests: Theoretical and experimental aspects of electroencephalography including:

     • Nonstationarity of the EEG

     • New types of EEG spatial synchrony

     • Nonlinear dynamics of EEG

     • Cognitive and sleep studies

     • Medical applications

     • Brain-Computer Interface (BCI)

     • Clinical diagnosis of schizophrenia

     • Sleep microstructure

     • High precision EEG processing
